Mario Bastea-Forte (Bas-tay-a For-tay) is a sixteen-year old junior at Albuquerque Academy. He began cello lessons at age ten and has studied with Lisa Collins for five years. In eighth grade, he was accepted into the Albuquerque Junior Symphony and is now a member of Albuquerque Youth Symphony. He participated in NMMEA (New Mexico Music Educators Association) All-State and is a member of the Symphony Orchestra
Mario traveled with the AYS to Philadelphia last year and was inspired to attend summer music camps and participate in music competitions. Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition was his first competition. After high school, he plans to attend a conservatory of music.
