The Choir of Central United Methodist Church
The 35 voice Central United Methodist Chancel Choir sings every Sunday and special celebrations – approximately 45 services a year. In recent years these singers have performed works such as Messiah – Handel, Gloria – Vivaldi, Lux Aeterna -Lauridson, Ceremony of Carols – Brittain ,Mass In G – Schubert, Requiem – Ellingboe, Requiem- Schumann. The choir has over 500 anthems in its repertoire and has sung in a variety of foreign languages and musical styles. We celebrate the gospel music tradition by combining with Fellowship Baptist gospel choir for our Easter Saturday celebration – Great Getting’ Up Mourning and a Thanksgiving service in November. The choir sings with our 24 piece church orchestra for Christmas, Easter, and special services. They will sing with Robert Schumann’s Requiem with the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque this spring. The choir can be seen every week on KAZQ TV – Sundays at 11am and 7pm.
