Transit of Venus Concert
Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 6:00 p.m.
Oriol Sans, conductor
Twice in every century, the planet Venus crosses the face of the sun, creating a small black dot that slowly moves from side to side over a period of approximately 4.5 hours. Because the transit cannot be seen without significant magnification, The Albuquerque Astronomical Society will be at the museum to project the image on LCD screens for visitors. The orchestra will feature Gustav Holst’s The Planets Suite and John Williams E.T. and Star Wars Suites.
A delicious menu is available for purchase from The Cooperage, and a cash bar will be available.
