From a Distant Mesa for Tenor and Orchestra celebrates the rich cultural heritage of New Mexico and the American Southwest. Emmy-winning composer Daniel Steven Crafts sets the words of New Mexico’s most acclaimed writer, Rudolfo Anaya. Anaya’s novel, Bless Me, Ultima, has been made into a beautiful motion picture to be released this fall.
Originally written for the legendary opera star Jerry Hadley, the work will be sung by Hadley’s only protégé Brian Cheney, now himself a celebrated figure on the world opera stage. This will be the world premiere, dedicated to the memory of Jerry Hadley.
